Blennerhassett Lubeck Washington
The Tri-C neighborhoods of Blennerhassett/Lubeck/Washington were sleepy rural communities of farms and churches until 1948 when the DuPont Company established its chemical plant here.
Since then, DuPont has provided good jobs for two generations of area residents, currently providing employment for approximately 1700 area families.
The years following DuPont’s arrival brought additional manufacturing jobs to the area to support the plastics industry.
A good neighbor, DuPont, who owns historic Blennerhasett Island, leases it to the State of West Virginia for $1 per year for the Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park. The Park is the location of the Historic Blennerhassett Mansion, a reproduction of the mansion built in the early 1800s by Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett and is the source of travel and tourism to the area.
The Tri-C area comprises approximately 14 sq miles, with a population of 5700 people along the Ohio River and inland.
The valleys offer soil for luscious gardens and the hills offer scenic views of the countryside.
The Tri-C community has long supported Pee Wee Football, Soccer, Baseball and Softball for children in the area.
The fields have been donated by SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation) formerly GE Plastics with the help of lots of volunteers.
Several residential subdivisions were developed in the 60s, 70s, and 80s featuring split-foyer and ranch-style homes in affordable price ranges.
Several upscale neighborhoods are currently available for new housing: Westwood sells homes in the $300,000-$400,000 price ranges with newer styles of residential home designer, Frank Betz.
Westover is the newest neighborhood with homes ranging between $200,00-$300,000. The completion of Route 50 and the opening of the Blennerhassett Island Bridge has made this area more accessible.
In 2009, 77 homes were sold with an median sales price of $129,900 and an average days on the market of 150.
Children in this area attend Blennerhassett Elementary (Pre-K-5), Blennerhassett Middle School (6-8) and Parkersburg South High School (9-12).
